LU-CIX Progress 2016

The fast expanding LU-CIX, in cooperation with EBRC, has opened a new Point of Presence (PoP) at the EBRC ‘European Reliance Centre East’ data centre in Betzdorf.

This latest PoP is the sixth for LU-CIX, and the third active at EBRC – the previous two are installed in the ‘EBRC Resilience Centre Luxembourg West’ data centre in Windhof and in the ‘EBRC Resilience Centre Luxembourg City 2’ data centre.

Extending the LU-CIX exchange node to this latest data centre will make it possible to connect new Internet access operators and new content providers locally to the LU-CIX national network.
“We are very pleased with this collaboration with LU-CIX, which is totally in line with our strategy for the management of sensitive information since it provides better security for network traffic. Our clients will henceforth be able to take advantage of the services provided by LU-CIX out of our data centre in Betzdorf, ” said EBRC Head of Marketing Jean-François Hugon.

The services offered by LU-CIX constitute an important element of the response to improving security. Thanks to the services of LU-CIX, domestic Internet traffic stays within the Grand Duchy, avoiding communication hubs that are less reliable and more exposed to cyber-threats. As a result, data exchanges are more confidential, and data flows are more secure, faster, and more stable.

The LU-CIX infrastructure makes it possible to interconnect an increasing number of ICT stakeholders and to keep an increasing volume of traffic within the Grand Duchy. “LU-CIX has become a real catalyst for the ecosystem of Luxembourgish data centres and we are aware that, all together, we are more than the sum of the parts, ” says Claude Demuth, CEO of LU-CIX.

LU-CIX is an additional element that supplements effectively the offer of securing and protecting client data developed by EBRC. “Our clients’ business is reliant on their information systems. Data has become a key asset, and in a demanding regulatory framework, we need to pay constant attention to each stage in the processing of information, ” said Alexander Duwaerts, Director Client Development.

This new LU-CIX PoP is therefore an additional element in decision-making, helping to attract new ICT companies, both national and international, to the Grand Duchy.
