With a global population pushing 7.6 billion and the growing threat of climate change, the need for sustainable development and circular economy solutions has never been greater. From mobility to energy storage, and sustainable water management to smart buildings, the opportunities for innovation are boundless.

Enter clean technology, or CleanTech.

CleanTech refers to any product, process or service that reduces negative ecological impact and optimizes the use of the earth’s natural resources. It is about heightened efficiency and performance, at a lower cost.

As the planet’s natural resources plummet, and their prices soar, it is no wonder that the CleanTech market is booming. The support of governments worldwide has increased substantially with more investment in clean and green initiatives. Countries across the globe are realizing the urgent need to create long-term solutions to preserve the planet.

And Luxembourg is no exception.

With a multitude of initiatives (Luxinnovation’s Cluster Initiative, for example), partnerships with über eco-conscious Nordic countries, excellent ICT infrastructure and a real commitment as a country to sustainability, the Grand Duchy is a prime hub for supporting the sector’s growth.

BIM (Building Information Modeling) is a set of technologies and processes that enable multiple stakeholders to design and construct a building in virtual space. In the long-term, features such as material trackers (or material banks) could help support a circular economy.
