Digital Skills Matchmaking

On September 14, 2021, the first day of ICT Spring, a digital edition of Digital Skills Matchmaking invited IMS Luxembourg member organizations and Digital Coalition members to meet a selection of innovative digital projects.

The aim of this meeting? To facilitate exchanges and create win-win partnerships.

The speed-dating event was organized by Innovative Initiatives, part of the Department of Media, Connectivity and Digital Policy; the Digital Skills and Jobs Coalition; and IMS Luxembourg. It kicked off with a video message from Prime Minister Xavier Bettel.

Claudine Kariger, Advisor, Department of Media, Connectivity and Digital Policy, echoes the sentiments he shared: "Our department, via Innovative Initiatives and partnerships with other stakeholders, encourages the development of digital skills projects. We want to shape a tech-savvy population equipped to support advanced technologies and next-generation infrastructures.”

Laetitia Gill, Executive Director, Geneva Centre for Philanthropy, University of Geneva, shared insight into the key factors for successful partnerships, and Joëlle Jouret, Head of Government Affairs and Public Policy, Google, spoke about skills partnerships with Luxembourg training providers.

"Partnerships are essential to help achieve the Sustainable Development Goals of the UN Agenda 2030,” Gill says. “The COVID-19 pandemic has shown that digital tools can be a formidable accelerator for developing efficient partnerships. Digital technology must be inclusive and serve the common good. It must not be an end in itself. The virtual must not replace the real".

The participating project owners were seeking coaching, mentoring or financial and logistical support, while participating companies sought support with CSR implementation, employee CSR engagement and sources of qualified talent in new digital fields.
